I have stayed at this Motel on a few occasions before my planned trip yesterday. The Motel wasn't anything special on those occasions but the least expensive. The recliner had been broken but worked. The pool and hot tub were closed on each occasion (as it was this trip) and room not very clean. Still, I had hoped to get away for a weekend just before the Christmas rush but it was not to be.
I've stayed at this hotel about 5 times now. Has always been decent. This time the lobby and hallways had a bad smell of body odor that would gag a maggot. If it wasn't for the location and parking. I would try a different place. But having room for the truck and boat is hard to find right in town. Desk staff helpful and friendly. Breakfast okay for the price
They gave us room 130. We had about half of our stuff moved into the room from the car when a cleaning lady said we can't be in the room. We didn't know what she was talking about and she couldn't elaborate because of language barriers so we kept bringing our stuff in and we would figure it out. As we moved the rest of our stuff in, our cards were cancelled so we got locked out. We had to go around to the front with our luggage to see what was going on. They said they were moving us to a different room because a lot of things were broke in 130. So they gave us a different room. We had to move all of our luggage to another room. Our coffee maker was filthy. I would recommend going to the front for coffee and not using the coffee maker in the rooms. I included a photo. There was slime inside the coffee maker. When we took a shower, the drain was clogged so you were standing in like 2 inches of water. I took a picture of it after it drained for ten minutes after getting out of the shower. We didn't have a shower curtain initially. I had to go up to the front desk and ask for one. I eventually noticed that one of the two new cards they had given us didn't work at all. So I went up to the front desk to get it fixed. She asked which room we were in and I told her 130 forgetting that they made us move to a different room. Instead of looking up my room number in the computer, she made me go all the way to my room to get my room number. Very rude customer service at the front desk. I would highly recommend never staying here. "Low quality inn" should be the hotels name.
My wife and I had a booking here that we were unable to make at the last minute. We had booked through an agency and they had a different cancellation policy than the hotel. My wife missed the cancellation deadline (of the service) by two hours because our infant son was having a meltdown and she lost track of time. She called the hotel and Daniel at the front desk was extremely understanding and helpful. He helped her out and fixed everything for us. Daniel should be commended for providing such quality customer service.
In my opinion, 'The man at the front desk' is in need of serious customer service training. He has very poor communication skills and is a blight on Quality Inn's reputation.
When I arrived yesterday after a 3 hour drive, the 'man at the front desk' (David S.) insisted there was no reservation in effect. It wasn't so much the fact of the room being unavailable, it was the man's tone of voice and anger for being disturbed. I was actually afraid for my safety. There were almost no guests (1 car in the parking lot). He didn't want me to stay at the Hotel and refused to offer any help resolving the issue. After waiting on the phone for 45 minutes with Expedia, the Expedia Customer Service Rep assured my credit card was not charged and I headed home. After the ordeal David put me through, there is no way I'll ever stay at this Motel again. Ever.
This Quality Inn is a small hotel just north of downtown Minocqua. The location is idea, but the hotel has seen better days. The rooms are simple and clean, but not modern. The hotel is 2 stories but does not contain an elevator. Breakfast is provided in the mornings and is simple. There is also a small indoor pool. Ideal for a quick work trip or a place to just sleep.
Just glad to have a place to rest before getting to the cabin the following day.
Two days before heading out from home, I cancelled my reservation with Expedia (with snow moving through area) but then noticed I was going to be charged the full rate so decided to keep it. I called the Hotel directly right away and was told the room was reserved and paid for, the woman even sent an email confirmation.
