We rented 2 2up sleds for one day, they ran great. The snowmobiles were well maintained and we had no problems. Chad got us in and out quickly. I will definitely rent from them again!
We booked a 3.5 hour tour with 3 drivers, which in the beginning was great, the trails were fun, the speed and pace were great for first time riders. We had to stop to try and fix the tour guides sled which ended up being towed behind another sled.(because the sled ran out of gas) From the second that sled broke down the focus of the tour guide was no longer the safety or wellbeing of of his customers. First he asked if anyone had a problem crossing a newly frozen lake in the dark (3 minute ride across), we explained that we are not comfortable with that and proceeded to turn around with no issues. From that point we were already about 2.5 hours into and were told that we had about a 30-45 minute ride back. The first big issue was, we had to make a u-turn for some reason and we were already riding on an icy road (not a trail), so he got his sled and the sled in tow turned around first. Then the tour guide hopped on my wife's sled and turned hers around, he got back on his and took off I guess assuming we ( the first time riders) could whip the sled around to make a u-turn on ice with zero steering and traction....which did not work. I had to struggle all alone in the middle of the road with cars waiting for me to turn my fathers sled and then mine around. Once we turned around we had to sit and wait because the tour guide took off (first of many), and since it was dark and we had no idea where we were, so waited for him to come back. He came back eventually and we proceeded. Second issue (most dangerous), started when we were crossing another icy road but it was not a straight cross which we didn't know because the tour guide once again was already blazing down the trail. while once again the three least experienced riders were left behind. This time again unable to turn the sled in the icy road conditions in the middle of a DARK road while cars wait AGAIN as I struggle to get the sled out of the road. We catch back up to Chad (tour guide) after resting from trying to push the sled out of the road. Now we have somehow made it to a gas station and not our destination (1 hour later). Now all the sleds are in good working order, from this point he finally put the more experienced rider in the end of the line of sleds (how it should be the entire time). But now we are 2 hours past when we should have been back which was at 5:30. Now we are almost purely on icy roads and the un-groomed snow on the shoulder of the road so of course we are going much slower since we are not experienced and exhausted. During the ride home we (meaning every rider except the tour guide) had to stop, sit and wait because the guide had sped so far ahead past forks and turns in the road / way home that we did not know which way to go. This happened 4 times, we asked him to slow down after the third incident which didn't change anything and of course it happened again either at road crossings or changes in trails. Now we have finally made it back @ 7:30 and I confront the tour guide about needing to slow down and worry more about his clients than what ever other motive he had to get back so quickly. He first claims that we were never out of his sight and that he always knew where we were (which really explains the 4-5 times we had to wait for him to come back because he had already sped off into the dark) and then made a snarky comment to my wife about crossing the frozen lake in the dark. He basically said none of this would have taken so long if we would of just crossed the frozen lake (which should I mention was never part of the tour ). He continued to defend his actions and deny that he even did one thing wrong at all. All he had to do was man up an admit his mistake, that he put a group of 3 first time riders in a very dangerous situation not one but multiple times. All in all Chad was irresponsible and childish when it came down to the safety of his his clients. So if you want the possibility of being left behind in the middle of an icy road on a snowmobile that you have never driven before (multiple times) I highly recommend this place.
first of all their snowmobiles are old - 2001-2005 and pretty beat up.
we rented 6 snowmobiles from these guys last weekend. right before even signing the paperwork owner Chad started lecturing us about safety on the trails, equipment damage and so on and on. I understand that every rental place has to provide safety briefing, but this was just too much. then followed safety course outside near the snowmobiles. after all circus we finally were free to ride. not even 30 mins passed and my sled broke down. when the owner arrived and tried fix the snowmobile with no luck, we were told that they are completely booked - they don't have any other equipment available and we can ride 2 people on one sled. after some arguing our group decided that we want to return the snowmobiles and owner agreed to return the money. after some research we went to reputable place in 20mi away and rented snowmobiles there. price was lower, equipment was new, insurance provided and the customer service was awesome. I give Adventure North 2 stars just because we were issued a refund for all 6 snowmobiles.
We rented two sleds for the weekend package. The equipment ran great. Chad was professional and very laid back. When we picked up the sleds, he did a great job of getting us checked in and out on the trail very quickly. I did some minor damage to one of the sleds and Chad was very understanding. Though I am being charged for repairs, he was very fair in assessing the extent of the damaged. I will rent from him again next winter, and based on this experience I will rent a pontoon from him this spring! Very cool dude!
