Looked like a fun place to eat, but never ate there before. Didn't realize you pay 1st like a buffet, THEN wait to be seated standing in 2 lines behind half doors, not just choose a table- not sure why they took another family in before us, even though we arrived right before they did. After being seated, we couldn't find a buffet. We didn't know what to do, so we sat there watching others get seated & frantic hostesses or waitresses running around. Finally after 10 minutes we were pretty thirsty, so I started to the waitress station myself looking for a glass of water. A gal who worked there ran up to me & asked if she could help. I said we hadn't been approached yet at our table & we didn't have anything to drink. She said she'd find our waitress. It was another 5 minutes before our waitress popped by saying she'd be right with us. Then within a couple minutes she had another person helping her bring water, coffee, & plates of food to the table all at once, apologizing she didn't see us right away. I guess it's an all you can eat family style where if you want, they keep bringing whatever it is they're serving. It would've been nice to have been asked if we'd ever eaten there before & that explained when we were seated. The food was great & our waitress attentive after that. We'd noticed others when seated, got coffee, water & donuts right away while waiting for the regular food to come out, which seemed about 5-10 minutes later. It would've been nicer to have that, than all the drinks & food at once also.
I would never recommend this place. Honestly don't know how they are still open. The chicken and ribs were borderline uncooked. The bread was good asked for more, but by the time it finally came we were done eating. The cake was good to but very small piece. Waitress, was not happy like she had to work late to serve our table. Save your money and go spend a couple dollars more for really food. Very disappointed. Terrible don't do it!
A very rustic place, cozy atmosphere. I personally recommend the family style lunch/dinner of all the options, but their family style breakfast (7-12 every morning) is also fabulous. Warning for small-portion-eaters: you won't be able to eat all the food there, might as well share
Family style dinner, where they bring everything to your table and you serve yourself. Friend chicken dinner is what was offer. I personally thought the chicken was great. Kids were .97 per year of age and adults were $14.99 each. Dinner included fried chicken, ribs, mashed potatoes and gravy, lumberjack bread, salad, pasta with meat sauce and a piece of chocolate cake.
I've been coming here since I was born. They never disappoint. The normal dinner is good, but I definitely recommend the fish fry on Fridays.... I don't always eat that much, but when I do, I'm at Paul Bunyan's.... The breakfast is a must every time we come up here, tradition for us. Finally, the staff are the best thing that ever happened to customer service. They are always so friendly and helpful, and they really stay on top of things to make sure you never run out of food. I will re-visit here until I am too old to move.
